DIY Gallery Art for Carson's Nursery

I love all of the gallery art everywhere.  We have a few pieces in our home and I love them. What I don't love about the large scale pieces is the price.  I have been tempted for a while to try my own and finally got up the courage to but a canvas from Hobby Lobby and some paint and do it.

I wanted to make a canvas that would go in Carson's nursery.  I had favorited a canvas from Etsy but it was $61 for a 11" by 14" and I wanted something much larger.  I purchased a 28" by 36" canvas from Hobby Lobby and some acrylic paints.

The art process was so simple.  No brushes needed just my finger.  I made a bunch of yellow and gray colors using the paint I had and lightening and darkening them using white and black paint I already had.  I also grayed down the yellow a bit.  I was trying to match the crib fabric.  Then I just painted circles of different sizes around the canvas.

Super easy! It looks perfect now on the shelf in Carson room's.  Here is a sneak peak I am almost done.  We have 9' ceilings in our home so I am always on the look out for larger art to fill the taller walls. This is perfect and much more inexpensive than buying one.

I looks so perfect on my shelf! I can't wait to show you the rest of the nursery!

  11. First off- I love your color choice. Yellow and gray is my favorite combo for the moment. Secondly- you made this look so easy! I have 2 giant canvases just laying around and a big empty space on the wall. I just haven't had the courage to actually do anything with them yet. Maybe I will have to! If you have a minute, I'd love for you to link up to Sweet Sharing Monday - http://saynotsweetanne.com/2012/sweet-sharing-monday-17/
