Sawyer's Nursery

When I found out I was having a boy I immediately started searching for baby boy decor.  I had seen the most beautiful girl crib bedding but I was so disappointed with the boy selection.  I am not a cutesy theme kind of person.  I like clean and simple.  I had seen some Etsy sellers offering custom crib bedding so I decided to pick a combination of fabric that I loved and design his room around that.  I ended up choosing a solid aqua color, some orange polka dot fabric, Joel Dewberry's chocolate sunburst fabric, and Sprout Designs giraffes in carrot.  Jonna at Fingers and Toes did the custom bedding and did an amazing job.  She was so wonderful to work with.  I love the colors the room ended up being.  I think they are unique and not something you typically see in a nursery.

I decided on a light aqua color from Benjamin Moore called spring sky.  My splurge was the furniture so I wanted to get a color/set that was gender neutral so we could use it again for a boy or girl in the future.  We bought white crib, dresser, and bookcase from Land of Nod.  The quality is amazing for all three pieces.  I looked around for a rocker for a long time.  I wanted a comfortable one but not one that cost $1,000+.  I found a great one from JC Penney.  I loved the white piping detail.

The lamp was a gift from my sister and it is from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child.  The mobile I also ordered from there.  It was originally $80 and I got on sale for $30.

With some extra fabric my sister and I made the valances and the pillow.  I wanted something simple and inexpensive.  All three items were under $30 to make.

I got both wall decals from Etsy and they were great and easy to install.  The tree came in about 10 pieces and took me a couple hours from start to finish.  The giraffe and elephant artwork was Avalisa prints from Art.com.  I got them framed at our local Michaels.  The artwork above the dresser I made with extra fabric and letters cut out of aqua cardstock.

I really loved how it turned out especially since it was more modern than my typical style.  I was lucky enough to have my nursery featured on Nicole's Chic & Cheap Nursery Blog.  Her blog is so great!  It showcases chic and cheap nurseries along with mom-to-be and baby gear.  I love it.

  8. Stacy - I went to look at JCP but it looks like they don't carry the exact one anymore. But they have a bunch of great looking ones for sale now. When I was looking they only had 2 slipcovered chairs.
